The Story behind MyZen Retreats
Before MyZen — and before motherhood — I worked in television within the luxury lifestyle world. I spent years around beautifully curated environments and learned early on how deeply the right setting, care, and atmosphere can shape how we feel.
My connection with India began in my early twenties and became a meaningful part of my life for many years. I lived between London and India for over a decade, and it was there that my understanding of healing, wellbeing, and a more holistic way of living began to deepen.
In Kerala, I first encountered Ayurveda, yoga, therapeutic massage, and the power of restorative touch — experiences that stayed with me and quietly shaped everything that followed.
Later, during pregnancy, I experienced first-hand the power of holistic support through Dr Gowri’s Ayurvedic guidance, reflexology, the Gentle Birth Method, and hypnobirthing. I also studied breath-led yoga with an Indian yoga master, and began to understand how breath, touch, and nervous-system calm can carry one through profound physical and emotional change.
Motherhood deepened that understanding. With three children born in under three years, I experienced the intensity, beauty, and overwhelm that so many mothers know so well. It was a time that taught me how essential it is for women to feel supported, held, and reconnected to themselves.
When my children arrived in quick succession, life became very full, very fast, and I found myself craving more time with my family and a different way of living.
A defining part of that journey was meeting Jane Goodey, my mentor and teacher, whose wisdom and presence opened my understanding of healing in a deeper way and ultimately led me to Reiki.
I never returned to my old career in the same way. Instead, I trained as a Reiki Master in the Usui lineage, and continued my studies in sound healing, therapeutic sound, facial reflexology, natural facelift massage, and body-led healing practices.
At 50, I feel more grounded and clear than ever before. I see age not simply as a number, but as something we feel — reflected in how we move through the world, how connected we are to ourselves, and how fully we inhabit our lives.
Music has always been a big part of how I shift mood and energy. I grew up dancing and listening to music almost all the time, and rhythm has always been one of my most natural ways of returning to the body.
Today, my work is rooted in a nervous-system-aware, deeply restorative approach. Through Reiki, therapeutic sound, intuitive touch, facial reflexology, natural facelift massage, and body-led practices, I create experiences that help the body soften out of stress and return to balance, vitality, and its natural rhythm.
MyZen grew from a desire to help people feel calm, grounded, and connected again — and to create beautiful, restorative environments where they can simply slow down, be held, and return to themselves.
I also collaborate with expert, like minded practitioners - from Pilates and yoga to movement and bodywork - to create experiences to support the nervous system in returning to balance. Every MyZen experience is designed to release tension and guide you back to your most vibrant self - helping you return to your natural rhythm and flow.
Wherever you are on your journey, MyZen is an invitation to feel calm, grounded and connected again.
